Prayer time sheet

Prayer requests

  • Finances to meet the gap: Please intensify prayer for the home site team as they look for donors and foundations to grant funds to close buildout expenses. We are seeking to raise an additional $200,000 to pay off and complete work on the building's structural issues, replace the finishes and furnishings we had removed, and have additional funds to complete all we need to do (see November & December answers below).
  • Men's bathroom and nursery completion: The most urgent needs are the completion of these two areas. We will have additional bathrooms for men to use, but the main restroom still needs to be funded. The nursery needs carpet, a check-in area, and basic furnishings. Pray specifically that the Lord will provide for these before our move in date.
  • Growth for His glory: Pray that God would be pleased to grow Beacon of Hope by adding a significant number of families to our congregation. This will enable us to move forward with building improvements, meet staff needs, and most importantly, build ministries for the spread of the Gospel in Saint Paul. Please pray for members of our own congregation who are able to create and record radio announcements to come forward and help us with this.
  • Building permits: So far, all permits have been issued quickly. But this request is ongoing. Please pray that God would grant us favor and expedite the permits so that we can continue to move forward on schedule.
  • Wisdom in our purchases: Pray that we would make wise choices in buying what we need for this initial phase. This is an ongoing request (see November & December answers below).
  • Inspections: The inspections are ongoing. Please continue to pray the inspections will not turn up anything to prevent progress.
  • Tax issues: Pray for wisdom in filing and approval from Ramsey County for tax exempt status on space used by Beacon of Hope. Pray for their survey of the property to ascertain taxes on portion used by renters which are not non-profit. This will take place after closing.
  • Terrace Court tenants: Please intensify prayer for an additional tenant to lease the remaining office space. This would bring in additional revenue to help defray the mortgage payment. Pray also for wisdom regarding a realtor to work with us. We are thankful that God has provided a tenant coordinator to help oversee the bulding and tenant relationships (see October answers below).
  • Home site team: Pray for wisdom, unity, and stamina (physically, emotionally, and spiritually) for Alex, Cha, and Stephen as they communicate with government officials, realtors, lawyers, lenders, architects, builders and one another. It is a huge job, and one that is added to already heavy workloads. Pray that God would undertake for them.
  • Metro use until ready: We have been able to renew our contract with Metro through March. Pray that Metro will allow us to continue meeting in the auditorium until we can move into the new site. And pray for wisdom on how to meet expenses of our mortgage and rent for Metro for the months needed for build-out of the property (now scheduled for April).
  • Support of congregation: Pray that God would continue to sustain our church family during the ups and downs of this huge transition for our church. Pray for God's energy to complete the work. Many are putting in long hours without pay!

July Answers

  • Appraiser: Yes, the appraisal came in high allowing Cornerstone to approve us for our loan.
  • Structural engineer: Yes, the inspection of the property did not turn up any big ticket items that would prevent us from moving forward.
  • Lender (Cornerstone): Yes, approved for the loan from Cornerstone. Our project is now financed.

August Answers

  • Architect and contractor: Yes, both the architect and contractor have worked with us suggesting numerous cost cuts so that we can get into the building. Further, Station 19 finished the construction documents on schedule so the bidding process can begin.

October Answers

  • Property Closing: Yes, we signed the closing documents for 850 Terrace Court on October 1st. Beacon of Hope has a home!
  • Construction bids:  The construction bids came in as expected and we've accepted them.
  • Safety during demolition:  Praise for the hard work and safety of all who helped tear down and haul away! We completed the demolition in record time.
  • Finances to meet the gap:  Great thanksgiving for the congregation of Beacon of Hope who have stepped up and increased giving to make our new home a possibility. This is a huge answer to prayer that speaks to the support, faith, and growing health of our church family.
  • Terrace Court tenants: Since closing on the property, we have met the current tenants and have begun our relationship with them. Junk 360, the tenant occupying our buildout space, has moved out. This is a huge answer to prayer as their lease didn't expire until the end of the year.

November & December Answers

  • Resolution for the structural issues discovered during demolition: Yes, we were able to partially resolve the structural issues by moving and adding steel reinforcements to the worship center and delay the additional work until a later date. It was an expensive project that delayed construction by a month. But in the end, we were able to compensate for most of the cost by removing other necessities and many of the extras we had hoped to add. Throughout the process of "taking away," we were reminded of how blessed we are to soon have our own home for Beacon, with or without the extras.
  • SAC (Sewer Availability Charge) fee: This is a huge answer to prayer. The $30,000 fee was completely eliminated by the Metropolitan Council!
  • Wisdom in our purchases: 200 worship chairs were chosen, ordered, manufactured, and will be delivered in March. Tile, carpet, and paint choices are finished.
  • Preparation & support of congregation: We praise God for the overwhelming support and generousity of the Beacon family. Because of you our church is able to move forward, trusting God to use us to advance the Gospel in our city. Thank you!
