For the health and safety of all our children, we ask that a child be kept at home with any of the following symptoms or illnesses:
- Fever, vomiting, diarrhea - (children should be episode-free for 24 hours)
- Coughing
- Runny nose
- Sore throat (if accompanied by other symptoms such as fever or rash)
- Fifths disease
- Active chicken pox, mumps, measles
- Conjunctivitis/Pink Eye (eyes that are pink or mattered and draining)
- Questionable rashes
- Impetigo, Ringworm
- Lice (children should be lice and nit free post-treatment)
- Children need to be symptom-free even if no longer contagious. Remember that we want all of our children to remain healthy and happy
- If a child is being treated with antibiotics, he/she shoud be on the drug for at least 24 hours before taking part in nursery or children's programming
- Please make sure that open sores and skin lesions are fully bondaged
- If a child has a clear runny nose or rash due to non-contagious allergies, please let us know
- If a child has been diagnosed with a communicable disease and has recently been in nursery or children's programming, please let us know
- If a child should develop symptoms while in our care, we will contact you
- Please note that Beacon staff and volunteers may not administer medication of any kind to a child
